HOW TO COMMISSION A PORTRAIT
James Sulkowski is considered one of the finest portrait artists nationally and in the Pittsburgh area . Commissioned portraits are a specialty of his . SITTINGS: Live sittings combined with the use of photographs of the subject are ideal. However, oftentimes the subject is unable to sit for the artist so photos are relied upon. James prefers to photograph the subject in his studio light but if that's not possible, a good photo that shows light and shadow on the face will work as reference. PRICING: The price of the portrait is determined following consultation with the artist as to size and content. PAYMENT: The artist requires one half of the total cost to begin the portrait . The remainder is due upon completion. FRAMING: The cost of framing is not included in this pricing. Individual portraits and taste require different styles in framing. James can certainly suggest framing choices to the client.
