NATIONAL ART WORKSHOPS
STUDY WITH THE MASTER!! Learn the concepts and techniques of Classical Painting and Drawing in James Sulkowski's Art Studio.
WHEN: ANNOUNCING a two-day intensive workshop; Friday and Saturday September 18 and 19, 2026
We start at 9 AM and paint until noon; break for lunch from 12 to 1 and then continue until 4 PM
Often the group will go to a close and convenient and very good deli called Chico Baccello where they have soup, salads, sandwiches.

WHAT: Oil and/or Pastel Painting ( No acrylics or watercolor ) Materials List available
One day will be devoted to Still Life and Floral Painting and one day will be devoted to Portrait Painting , ( those who don't want to paint the portrait can continue painting the Still Life or Floral )

James offers personal one-on-one instruction as well as daily demonstrations. He has taught national art workshops for over 30 years for Jerry's Artarama's Art of the Carolinas, Cheap Joe's, The Scottsdale Artists School, The Vero Beach Museum , the Naples Florida Art Association ,The Hilton Head Art League, and many, many more including private studios in Georgia, Maine, Pennsylvania,North Carolina and others.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN: You'll learn about the mostly forgotten principles which the great Renaissance and 17th century Masters such as Leonardo, Titian, Rubens, Rembrandt and others knew, Understanding the Light Effect is essential to this approach to Classical Art. We work from Nature which inspires the art; we do not copy our subject. We paint and draw what we see but we also paint and draw what we know. This is not taught in the academies or ateliers of today which claim to be Classical. You'll also learn about the Classical Palette and how it's set up; the two most important questions an artist must ask herself or himself; the two most important lines of the head; Form and the Basic Shapes ; Light, Space and Atmosphere; Color; Composition; how to mix flesh tones; how to turn a form; the color of shadow and more.
CLASS SIZE IS LIMITED TO 8 .
Hotels, motels, restaurants are all close by including a Casino and Racetrack.
